Located in northeastern Jackson county, we serve students from all over the Kansas City metropolitan area, reaching over 23 zipcodes. We offer a fully accredited educational program for students, ages 3 through 8th grade. Our Early Childhood Learning Academy accepts students from birth through age 5 as well. We currently have 243 enrolled in our preschool through 8th grade program.
St. John LaLande school is the largest ministry of our parish, providing children with a Catholic education that places emphasis on academic excellence in an environment that encourages each student to be the best he or she can be. Our curriculum is grounded in traditional values and includes foreign language, technology, art, music, and physical education as well as exciting extra-curricular opportunities including sports, scouts, chess, and new for 2016-2017, a robotics program. St. John LaLande will join with Project Lead the Way in the fall of 2016, providing a strong engineering and technology science curriculum for our students in K-5 that complements our historically strong middle school science STEAM program.
Our school has been serving students in the greater eastern Jackson county area since 1959. Students from St. John’s attend area private and public high schools where they excel academically and athletically. Students from St. John LaLande attend Archbishop O’Hara High School, St. Teresa’s Academy, Notre Dame de Sion and Rockhurst High School as well as our strong public schools in Blue Springs, Lees Summit, Grain Valley and Oak Grove.
We have a team of dedicated and enthusiastic educators, all of whom hold Bachelor’s degrees and several of whom have received their Master’s. Many of our teachers’ own children attend St. John LaLande. Our mission statement focuses on the strong Catholic traditions of academic excellence and faith formation that have marked our school since its founding.
